Cook

Cook reports to the Master (through Welfare Officer).

Responsibilities –

1. Prepare weekly menu (as discussed in Welfare Committee Meeting) and accordingly arrange for purchase of provisions.
2. Prepare meals for crew as per menu defined.
3. Maintain hygiene in galley, dry provision stores, mess-rooms and cold rooms.
4. Take adequate precautions to ensure that the vessel is free of rodents and insects.
5. Maintain inventory of galley equipments, linen, cutlery, crockery, furniture, and fittings in mess-rooms, accommodation spaces and provision stores.
1. Control purchase of food supplies and provisions.
2. Maintain account of victualling allowance (on behalf of the Master, if R/O is not available).
6. Guide and supervise cook and mess-boys.
7. Perform duties as assigned by Master (depending on situation).
