Second Officer (2/O)

 2/O reports to the Master (through C/O).
 In absence of C/O, 2/O may be required to officiate as C/O, subject to prior approval from DPA.
 Perform duties as Medical Officer (listed separately).

Responsibilities -
1. Keep the 12 o’clock – 4 o’clock navigational watch.
2. Maintain inventory of all charts, navigational publications and equipments.
3. Prepare passage plans in consultation with the Master.
4. Correct and update navigational publications and chart folios.
5. Take station at the quarterdeck and attend to all activities during arrival and departure.
6. Advise personnel and keep record of changes of time zone during passage (i.e. advancing or retarding vessel’s clocks).
7. Prepare noon reports for Master.
8. Assist C/O during cargo operations (if required).
9. Prepare log abstracts and related reports as required by Master, BSM and charterer.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by Master (depending on situation).
